The purpose of this commission is to appoint a suitably experienced facilitator (team) to design and deliver a community-led textile heritage project, entitled, Threads of the Sea. The project will use traditional textile crafts (knitting, embroidery, spinning and dyeing) to explore and interpret Tarbert's maritime heritage, engaging a wide cross-section of the community in the creation of meaningful, place-based artworks. The project seeks to: 1) Engage the Tarbert community in creative exploration of local maritime heritage 2) Revitalise and reinterpret traditional textile skills 3) Foster social connection, wellbeing, and intergenerational learning 4)Create visible, high-quality public artworks rooted in place and people Textile practice will be used as both a heritage interpretation tool and a social activity, supporting storytelling, cultural exchange, and community cohesion.
